Hot Tub Update

The hot tub we bought the day we closed on the house was installed today. Having a hot tub installed is a crazy thing. The gate in our fence isn't wide enough for the hot tub to go through, so we paid $125 for a crane (which apparently is common practice). They lifted the hot tub up and over the garage, and set it down in the yard to get it to it's spot on the concrete pad in our breezeway.

Here are 4 pics - as I post this, it's still heating up - at 81 degrees right now (started at 46 when the water was put in). And yes, that is snow. In late, late March. 7" and still coming down. Colorado weather is weird.

Gas line installed.

The gas line was installed for the oven - though the oven isn't hooked up yet. They completed the line on Monday, the inspector came and gave us our permit (which means it's up to code) on Friday morning, and our plumber (who knew plumbers do gas lines!) will be back on Monday evening to hook up the oven.

Progress & To Do List

So we're making good progress. And by that, I mean the people we're writing checks to are making good progress.

Done to date:

  • Utilities on
  • Master Bedroom Painted (was white, now a denim-ish blue)
  • Bedroom 1 painted (was a slate gray with a white stripe, now a slate blue with no stripe)

  • Upstairs bathroom painted (was one wall each in bright hues: green, orange, yellow, blue)
  • Refrigerator installed
  • Oven in kitchen (not installed)

  • Dryer installed
  • Washing machine & dishwasher ordered (arrive Thursday & Saturday respectively)
  • Wine fridge purchased
Done today (by end of day):
  • Big red wall painted (wait for pictures)
  • Office painted (was red, now a different blue than the other 2 rooms I mentioned)
  • Gas line for oven installed (still need 110 outlet & inspection - hopefully by Sat)
Scheduled:
  • Carpet cleaning (Thursday afternoon)
  • Packers (Friday morning)
  • Movers (Saturday morning)
  • Milk delivery (yeah. you can get that here)
  • Cable install (Thursday)
  • Kitchen table delivery (Friday)
  • Entertainment center delivery (Friday)
In Progress:
  • Hot tub install (waiting to schedule)
  • Kitchen design (measure done, making appt. to finish design)
  • Kitchen install & appliance install (once kitchen is done)
  • 110 outlet for oven electronics (noted above)
  • Gas line inspection (noted above)
Not really on a list but on our minds:
  • New closet organizers (priced, unsure about pulling the trigger)
  • New TV (probably in a couple of months)
  • Paint downstairs bathroom (currently bright yellow, we're thinking more mustard/sunflower)
  • Replace all lights with full-spectrum compact flourescents
Phew! Nothing like making a 3.5 year old home your own!

Bird's Eye Views

These are from Microsoft live maps. I'm not usually one to push a product from MS, but hey - these are nice shots (and on Google Maps, the place is still dirt).

On to the new house!

If you were following the build of our house, you now know that after several months of delays, we called it quits, got out of our contract and got our deposit back.

As all of that was happening, we happened upon another house in Stapleton that seemed to fit our needs really well. We inquired, looked and a few weeks later, we were closing.

We closed on 2/12. They rented back from us until 2/28. We're now in the process of making a few changes. Before I get into the changes, here's the house as we bought it.

These pictures were taken from the realtor website, so they don't enlarge. We'll post some better ones soon.

Watch for further posts on room color changes, and other updates (the kitchen being the big one)!
